The AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix will continue the collaboration with the ‘Petrolhead-Community’s’ Fuelish app this year whilst extending its digital strategy once again. In 2018 the AvD OGP event app within the Fuelish app already thrilled numerous smartphone owners by putting them into close touch with the action in this way: live streams and trackside commentaries, picture galleries, stories and a large variety of useful information for visitors were readily available at all times. Even after the race weekend many classics fans used the community to engage in exchanges and to keep memories of the event alive. Now the organisers of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix have entered into an agreement with the operators of the free Fuelish app to continue and extend the service: at the 47th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix from 9 to 11 August 2019 the AvD OGP event app running on the Fuelish app will offer additional features that will further enhance the services available to visitors. Moreover, the Fuelish team impressively demonstrated its digital expertise and so has been entrusted with serving the social media channels of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix such as Facebook and Instagram from now on.
The officials expect the collaboration to yield synergies such as more systematic dissemination of information via the available channels. “We are delighted about the opportunity to make the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix even more interactive, exciting and informative through this collaboration,” says Volker Strycek, AvD Vice President, Sports and Youth. “The highly positive response to the 2018 AvD OGP event app has shown that we struck a chord with many visitors and other stakeholders here. They will, no doubt, benefit from this extended collaboration with Fuelish as well.” Information about the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix is available on the internet at www.avd-ogp.de – including a subpage for the AvD OGP event app. Use of the app on smartphones is simple: users just download the Fuelish app (available from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store) on which the AvD OGP event app will run again in 2019.
Extended features: individual timetable, plus even more information than before
Users of the Fuelish app will automatically learn more about the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix: one week before the event kicks off the AvD OGP event app will be available to all members of the Petrolhead-Community. Once the event has started the app will switch to the live version encompassing all features, including a number of new ones this year. Examples include the option to define an interactive, customised timetable: under the ‘programme’ (‘Programm’) menu item users can mark weekend highlights of particular interest to them. In this way, they always have their personal event plan at their fingertips, plus the smartphone will remind them in good time about the respective programme item. The “Community” section, which already included the exhibitors at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix in 2018, has been updated as well. This year, exhibitors will have the opportunity to present themselves far more extensively with detailed descriptions, pictures and other information. The menu items that were successfully offered last year have been retained. In the live section all current information and insights on and alongside the race track are available. Users are able to share their experiences with posts and pictures here and interact with other users. In addition, a large photo wall will automatically be created from all uploaded and shared pictures. A special highlight of this section: users can continuously follow the track announcers live. Last but not least, this section includes all the race results, which are directly fed into the app immediately after approval by the stewards of the meetings.
Sterling service via the AvD OGP event app
Even before the race weekend the AvD OGP event app will again offer the same extensive service as last year. Grouped into four menu items, stories, the event programme, local information and information for participants will be available. Under ‘Stories’ content such as news and articles from the programme booklet can be found. Under ‘Programme’ all timetables can be accessed to keep from missing any qualifying sessions or race starts, autograph opportunities or other highlights. Details about the races can be found here as well. The menu item ‘Local’ (‘Vor-Ort’) summarises all details about access routes, parking places and the sitemap. The ‘Participants’ (‘Teilnehmer’) section includes all entrants lists and other relevant information for participants. The shop that is included as well provides the opportunity to buy AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix merchandise articles directly via the app. The free Fuelish app for mobile Apple end devices is available from the App Store, Android users will find the App on Google Play.
The 26th AvD Historic Marathon will be part of the 48th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2020.
The race on the legendary Nordschleife is designed as a three-hour race for classic cars up to 1976 in compliance with the Appendix K. With the Nürburgring-Trophy the not-Appendix K cars/Youngtimer up to 1996 were integrated into the AvD Historic Marathon, but finishing the race after 100 minutes. The new concept makes the marathon even more attractive after a four-year break.
